Grape variety: 100% Primitivo Gambero Rosso 3 Glasses, Falstaff 92 Points, James Suckling 90 Points, Wine Spectator 90 Points
Produttori di Manduria, Via Fabio Massimo 19, 74024 Manduria (Taranto), Italy
In the glass this wine is cloudy and dark carmine red. Cherry, gently roasted almonds, freshly squeezed beetroot juice and a hint of ashtray unfold in the nose. The wine wets the palate with concentrated racy acidity and fresh red berries, which fits good with the moderate 13.5% alcohol by volume. In doing so, it provides a refined contrast to the usual Primitivo wines in the same price range. The palate is tickled by a multi-faceted spice that emphasizes the fruit notes and a little bit Residual sweetness - atypically subtle and therefore enjoyable. You can taste morello cherries, a little older Balsamic vinegar, orange zest and organic cocoa powder. There are also elegant notes of Crema di Nocciola from the Piedmont. You seldom have so much good wine in your glass for so little money.
