Piaggia, Via Cegoli 47, 59016 Poggio a Caiano (Prato), Italy
The Piaggia winery is located in the heart of Tuscany with an area of approx. 40 square kilometers. The best climatic conditions for wine-growing prevail here, which give the Piaggia wines their good reputation.
The history of the Piaggia winery
In the mid-1970s, Mauro Vannucci bought land in the area around the village of Piaggia, which has given the winery its name to this day. Even then, he was convinced that the vineyards would benefit from the exclusive southern exposure. The clay soils also offered the best conditions for good growth of the vines and a rich harvest.
Today, Piaggia wines stand for rich abundance and elegance. In 1991 the first DOCG wine was bottled in the Piaggia winery. Since then, even more passion for good, first-class wines can be felt in the products. The company is still family-owned and is run by the second generation, daughter Silvia.
Piaggia wines made from the best grape varieties
The wines from the Piaggia winery are made from four different grape varieties. These include:
- Merlot
- Cabernet
- Sauvignon
- Sangiovese
- Canernet Franc
The vineyards themselves are located in an area with the controlled and guaranteed designation of origin Carmignano. They are partly in the municipality of Poggio a Caiano and partly in the municipality of Carmignano.
