Giorgio Meletti Cavallari

Giorgio Meletti Cavallari is a passionate winemaker from Bolgheri, Tuscany, known for producing high-quality wines that reflect the region's rich terroir. Born in 1978, Giorgio grew up immersed in the world of winemaking, as his father was the founder of the prestigious Grattamacco estate. In 2002, he decided to establish his own winery in Bolgheri, bringing his expertise and personal vision to the craft. His estate covers 14 hectares of vineyards, located in some of the best areas of the Bolgheri DOC, including Piastraia and Vallone.

Giorgio Meletti Cavallari - The charm of classic winemaking

The vineyards benefit from a mix of soil types, from skeletal and galestro schist at higher elevations to clayey limestone in the foothills. Giorgio cultivates classic Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, as well as Syrah, Vermentino, and Viognier. He follows sustainable farming practices, ensuring that the wines express the natural qualities of the land. One of his signature wines is "Impronte," a Bolgheri Superiore DOC blend that showcases the depth and elegance of the region. Another notable wine is "Borgeri Rosso," a Bolgheri Rosso DOC that captures the vibrant fruit and structure of Bolgheri reds.

Giorgio’s approach to winemaking is hands-on, and he even incorporates his fingerprints on the labels to symbolize the personal craftsmanship behind each bottle. The winery also welcomes visitors, offering tastings and a farmhouse experience to immerse guests in the beauty of Bolgheri. His wife, Monica, plays an important role in running the estate, making it a true family-driven venture. Despite the winery’s relatively young history, it has gained recognition for producing wines with balance, complexity, and aging potential.

Giorgio Meletti Cavallari continues to uphold the legacy of Bolgheri winemaking while adding his own touch of innovation and dedication. His wines are a reflection of both tradition and modernity, appealing to wine lovers around the world. With a strong commitment to quality and sustainability, he has firmly established himself as a leading producer in the Bolgheri region.
